What’s Your Style?

Posted by Robyn Clark on

Before we get into personal style, let’s talk about the actual word; style. As defined by dictionary.com, style is “a particular kind, sort, or type, as with reference to form, appearance, or character. Growing up and hearing the word style automatically made me think of models on the runway, women with expensive clothing, and the big style influencers. That all changed as I grew older and closer to the world of fashion. I believe style is in everyone. We all posses a particular style however some stand out or are more popular than others. In my opinion, there is no wrong or right way to do it. My definition of style is whatever makes you comfortable, not what makes you stand out or popular; it’s what comes naturally. I like to define my personal style as Sporty Chic. Let’s take a Fun and Flirty dress for example. I’ll do 2 example looks of how I would wear a Flirty dress and make it Sporty Chic. Look #1: The dress paired with a Yankees fitted, a bright lip, large hoop earrings, and a chunky heeled sandal. Look #2: The dress as a tunic w/ distressed boyfriend jeans, a simple 2 strap sandal or pump, and of course my handy dandy Yankees fitted, add the hoops, bright lip, and go!! Another woman may take that look and wear it completely different and turn it into a style that makes her most comfortable. When I say comfortable, I’m not opposed to stepping out of the box.  I am referring to whatever gives you the confidence to walk down the street like you own it. Enough about me, how do you define your style? How would you style a Fun and Flirty Dress?”
